Chisinau, 22 January /MOLDPRES/ – Prime Minister, Pavel Filip, has discussed today with the mayor of Straseni municipality, Valentina Casian, about the infrastructure projects to be developed within locality, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.
During the visit, Pavel Filip inspected the construction site of a pedestrian bridge over the railroad in Straseni. The construction works started in 2016 but they were delayed due to the necessity of replacing the steel from which it was made the bridge, but also because the pylon installation required the stopping of the trains in this area. "This time all the constraints have been removed, and those which carry out these works assured us that by June, but, I hope, even earlier, because practically 60 per cent of the works have been done, to have this project completed," said PM.
The installation is very important for locals because the existing pedestrian bridge is in a bad condition and the locals are forced to surround the area or even cross the railroad, thus putting life at risk. There was allocated the amount of over MDL 12 million for the construction of the pedestrian bridge.
Also today, the Premier inspected a section of road that leads to the Straseni College of Engineering. The section represents the access road for the workers of the 12 enterprises located in the Free Economic Zone (ZEL) and it is soon expected a new investor in the area to provide up to 3000 jobs. Thus, Pavel Filip emphasised the strategic importance for the renovation of this road.
"As to ensure economic, social development, you need to create some fundamental things, such as infrastructure. If it is water, sewage, natural gas, electricity, cooperative authority, the city immediately develops: it comes from economic agents, people come and that is why these investments must be made," said the Premier.
For the rehabilitation of the road, the money has already been allocated in the budget, and the work will begin as soon as weather conditions allow.
"We hope that this area will become the business card of the city and I remain on the idea that success generates success. The more we talk about beautiful things happening, the more investors we hope will come to this locality," said mayor of Straseni, Valentina Casian.
Pavel Filip also expressed his wish to see Straseni district an industrial centre and appreciated the opening of local authorities for the development of infrastructure projects. "Much depends on local authorities. Where there is openness and initiative, projects go, the jobs are created and investors come," specified PM.
