On national roads traffic provided under winter conditions in Moldova

Chisinau, 23 January /MOLDPRES/ – The national patrols are carried out patrolling and fighting the slide, and road traffic is ensured in winter conditions.

The head of the operational Service State Road Administration (ASD), Sergiu Capatina, mentioned for the agency that during the night in the northern and central areas of Moldova it was snowing, and in the southern area it was recorded snow and sleet.

"There were 368 road workers and 325 special machines involved in snow removal and fighting, which distributed over 2,107 tonnes of anti-skid material. All dangerous sectors are constantly monitored by road workers and, if necessary, intervened," said Capatina.

Interviewed by agency, the press officer of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU), Liliana Puscasu, said that during recent 24 hours rescuers were not requested by people in difficulty. "According to the operative data received from the electricity suppliers, no disconnections are currently recorded. During snow, the drivers are asked to equip their means of transport properly. The drivers are urged to start preparing, get food supplies, warm drinks and appropriate clothing. Also, the drivers are urged to travel at low speeds both in and out of the city, to keep a longer distance between cars so that they can brake, avoid parking cars near trees. The phone battery should be charged to call for help if necessary," said Puscasu.  

The Chisinau City Hall has announced that the transport circulates under winter conditions in the capital, and public transport operates on all municipal routes, with small deviations from the programme, on races to suburban localities.

The Exdrupo company worked all night at snow removal with 51 vehicles, scattering 500 m3 of anti-skid material. Throughout the day, the road workers continue works on the streets where public transport goes, as well as on secondary streets.

Also, the housing and communal administration (RLC) started working at 03:00 with 36 brush and blade machines. The direction comes to wipe snow on the sidewalks and pedestrian crossings. Also, about 380 workers work in neighbourhoods and waiting stops, snow cleansing and anti-skidding activities.

The municipal authorities urge citizens to use public transport, to the detriment of personal cars; motorists not to park on the edges of the streets and on the sidewalks, avoid crowding traffic and allow snow removal equipment to intervene. Tje economic agents and property managers of Chisinau are also called upon to clean the snow from the territory where they operate.

In upcoming days, the weather is slightly cool. At night, the thermometres will indicate up to – 10ºC in the north, and the day will record up to +03ºC in the south. It will snow across the country by the forecasts.
