Eight persons get to hospital in recent 24 hours following road accidents caused by bad weather in Moldova

Chisinau, 23 January /MOLDPRES/ – Eight persons got to hospital with various injuries caused by intemperance road accidents within recent 24 hours.
The press officer of the National Patrol Inspectorate (INP), Natalia Golovco, said that during the night and until now it continues to snow in some regions of Moldova, there are not local roads and blocked national routes, but the traffic is difficult to circulate due to snow on roadway. "The patrol crews accompany self-propelled vehicles for snow removal and sprinkling of anti-skid material. For 24 hours, 457 patrol officers have been operating on a large scale throughout the country and intervened to unlock 14 transport units with people from the snow," said Golovco.
According to the cited source, regardless of driving time, drivers continue to drive at excessive speed. "Over 100 drivers were trapped in traffic driving over speed limits. Also, eight road accidents resulted in eight people having suffered various traumas," added Golovco.
The INP management reminds drivers not to start the road without having to equip the vehicle with proper tyres, check the heating system, antifreeze level, windscreen wiper and water jet condition, brakes, not to forget the anti-skid chains, shovel, scraper and the sandbag. For out-of-town trips, drivers have to fill their fuel tanks, have a blanket, a pocket torch and a thermos with tea in the car, and the phone battery to be charged.
