Moldovan electoral body establishes order of registration of two potential electoral contenders in ballot paper

Chisinau, 23 January /MOLDPRES/ – The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) has set today the previous order to include two potential electoral candidates in the ballot in the parliamentary elections of 24 February 2019.

The formations have today submitted the necessary sets of documents for registration of candidates for the position of MP on national constituency.

Following the draw, the preliminary order was set in ballot paper: Movement of Professionals Speranta – Nadejda (Miscarea Profesionistilor Speranta – Nadejda) – 12th position and Political Party Patria (Motherland) – 13th position.  

According to the Electoral Code's provisions, the CEC examines the files submitted and carries out the registration of nominated candidates within 07 days of the documents receipt. The order for registration in the ballot paper remains final only after registration with the CEC as electoral contestants, on national constituency.

The CEC previously set the order for registration of several formations which filed the acts for registration as electoral contestants in parliamentary elections, including: the Democratic Party of Moldova (PDM), Party of Socialists of Moldova (PSRM), Party of Communists of Moldova (PCRM), electoral bloc ACUM – Platform DA and PAS and Shor Party.

This parliamentary scrutiny of 2019 will be held after a mixed electoral system, with the MPs elected to both party lists and constituencies. Also, on the day of the elections, there will be an advisory referendum on reducing the number of the MPs from 101 onto 61 and with their dismissal if they fail to fulfill their duties properly.
