Period of submitting applications on registration in electoral race ends in Moldova today

Chisinau, 24 January /MOLDPRES/ - The period of submitting applications on registration in the electoral race for the parliamentary polls ends today.

Thus, today is the last day on which candidates for the MPs seats for the national electoral district and the uninominal districts can submit applications on registration in the electoral race.

The electoral authorities will work till 17:00.

At the same time, the electoral campaign starts for the contenders already registered in the electoral race on 25 January.

So far, seven political formations have registered as electoral contenders in the national district. It is about the Democratic Party of Moldova, Party of Socialists, Party of Communists, electoral bloc ACUM – Dignity and Truth Platform and Action and Solidarity Party, Shor Party, Antimafia People’s Movement and Our Party formation.

The parliamentary polls due on 24 February will be held according to a mixed electoral system. Thus, 50 MPs will be elected on party lists and 51 lawmakers - in uninominal districts. Also, on the election day, a consultative referendum will be conducted on cutting the number of lawmakers from 101 to 61 and MPs’ recalling from office, if they fail to properly fulfill their duties.
