Precipitation, glazed frost trigger more blockages in southern district of Moldova

Chisinau, 24 January /MOLDPRES/ - A vehicle with one or more tows entered into a house of a resident from the Branza village, southern Cahul district, today. The vehicle ceded because of the bad conditions for traffic, triggered by the weather. PRES.
The glazed frost paralyzed the road traffic in the Cahul city too and the settlement’s public transport did not get on routes today morning, according to the site www.ziuadeazi.md.
According to rescuers from Cahul, road blockages occurred in the area of the villages Moscovei, Slobozia Mare and Lebedenco. People were not able to reach the district centre and movement was disturbed.
Since today morning, more people have come to the Emergencies Receptions Department from Cahul, caused by the ice on roads. At the same time, five traffic accidents were recorded on roads from the Cahul district at 11:00.
„The Cahul Police Inspectorate (IP Cahul) distributed crews all over the city and to outskirts, to provide assistance to drivers, if they get into accident situations, as well as to manage and maintain the road traffic movement, in order to prevent accident situations. At the same time, along with the local public authorities, the Cahul Police Inspectorate monitors the situation of elderly people in need of help,” a press officer at the IP Cahul, Cristina Ciobanu, said, cited by www.ziuadeazi.md.
For his part, the head of the vehicles’ park no 8, Boris Susanu, said that the public transport would resume activity once the situation is stabilized and the road is practicable.
At present, special vehicles from Cahul process roads with antiskid material. The Cahul administration undertakes all measures to improve the state of things and along with the police demand that residents prove prudence and call the 112 service in emergency situations.
According to meteorologists, the snow and sleet will maintain till the end of this week.
