Snowfall, sleet to maintain in Moldova till next weekend

Chisinau, 24 January /MOLDPRES/ – The precipitations in the form of snow and sleet of different intensity will maintain by the weekend, with reference to the State Hydrometeorological Service (SHS).
According to meteorologists, the most intense precipitations, in the form of snow, rain and sleet, will keep on throughout today. Commencing 25 January, however, they will gradually surrender, so that on Sunday, 27 January, it is expected a beautiful and quiet weather, isolated with wintry sun.
Within reference period, the day is expected to have positive temperatures, while at night the maximum ones will indicate – 06ºC to – 08ºC. "This means that in the morning it will be ice, which requires attention and greater involvement of the services and authorities," specified the sources from SHS.
According to specialists, as a rule, the amount of rainfall in January on the territory of Moldova consists 22 – 41 mm, and the number of precipitation days – from 10 – 15. The highest level of precipitations in January for the entire period of instrumental observations reached in the territory 216 mm (Carpineni, 1966) and the daily one – 55 mm (Cahul, 1966). In January, the following phenomena are possible: fog (on average 03 – 10 days), deposits of frost and ice (04 – 09 days), ice (07 – 19 days) and blizzards (01 – 03 days).
In the context, the rescuers and police warn the population to comply with winter weather conditions and exercise caution, especially in traffic, and in case of emergency situations, call 112.
