Moldovan electoral body registers electoral contenders on behalf of two political formations

Chisinau, 24 January /MOLDPRES/ - The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) today registered the electoral contenders in the national district on behalf of the National Liberal Party (PNL) and People’s Will Political Party.
PNL’s list includes 40 candidates and the one of the People’s Will Political Party – 30 candidates.
At the same time, the Commission registered also the parties’ electoral symbols.
CEC has earlier registered the electoral contenders on behalf of more parties. It is about Democratic Party of Moldova, Party of Socialists, Party of Communists, electoral bloc ACUM – Dignity and Truth Platform and Action and Solidarity Party, Shor Party, Antimafia People’s Movement and Our Party formation.
Today is the last day on which candidates for the MPs seats for the national electoral district and the uninominal districts can submit applications on registration in the electoral race. At the same time, the electoral campaign starts for the contenders already registered in the electoral race on 25 January.
The parliamentary polls due on 24 February will be held according to a mixed electoral system. Thus, 50 MPs will be elected on party lists and 51 lawmakers - in uninominal districts.
