Five hundred ten pupils skip classes due to bad weather conditions in Moldova

Chisinau, 24 January /MOLDPRES/ – On 25 January, all educational institutions in Moldova will stop working. The decision has been taken today at the meeting of the commission of exceptional situations (CSE) after 510 pupils from three districts and Gagauzia did not arrive at classes because of unfavourable weather conditions. The meeting was convened by Prime Minister, Pavel Filip.
The head of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU), Mihail Harabagiu, stated at the meeting that there were no localities disconnected from the electricity in Moldova. According to Harabagiu, on some routes the road traffic was stopped in order to let the road workers to carry out snow removal works.
The state secretary at the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure (MEI), Anatol Usatai, said that road traffic has been difficult on several roads in the south of Moldova, especially on the routes Hancesti – Leova – Cantemir – Cahul – Giurgiulesti, Leova – Cantemir – Cahul and Vulcanesti – Cahul – Taraclia.
According to Usatai, in the technological process, from the first hour of this morning, there were used 213 special vehicles and participated 250 road workers, using over 1,200 tonnes of anti – skid material.
According to the SHS's information and media communication service, the precipitation in the form of snow and sleet, of different intensity, will maintain by the weekend.
