National road blocked in southern Moldova

Chisinau, 24 January /MOLDPRES/ - The Cahul-Giurgiulesti road remains blocked till 17:00, the National Patrol Inspectorate (INP) has informed. The local authorities, as well as patrol inspectors undertake measures of processing the roadway and easing the traffic.
The INP press officer, Natalia Golovco, said that patrol inspectors from southern Moldova were involved also in checking the public transport from starting points in bus terminals stations. They verify the technical state of the passenger transport. Also, they thoroughly verify the buses which carry pupils to education institutions.
Servicemen of the Dacia motorized infantry brigade today also provided support to local authorities to de-block the road Cahul-Giurgiulesti. They help de-block and tow touring cars which skid from the highway because of the glazed frost.
Also because of the glazed frost, a vehicle with tows entered a house of a resident from the Branza village, southern Cahul district. The glazed frost paralyzed the road traffic also in the Cahul city and today morning, the city’s public transport did not get out on routes.
According to rescuers from Cahul, road blockages were formed in the area of the villages Moscovei, Slobozia Mare and Lebedenco today morning and people were not able to go to work.
The INP press service informed that 120 patrol inspectors today worked all over Moldova and no serious accidents with injured people had been registered.
According to meteorologists, the snowfall and sleet will maintain will next week-end.
