Moldovan diplomacy head participates in international round of discussions on global migration

Chisinau, 24 January /MOLDPRES/ – Minister of Foreign Affairs, Tudor Ulianovschi, has participated today as the main speaker at the international debates round on global migration within the Davos World Economic Forum.
According to the MAEIE’s public diplomacy, strategic communication and media interaction service, the discussions were devoted to the implementation perspectives of the Global Migration Pact, adopted at the Intergovernmental Conference in Marrakesh on 10 – 11 December 2018, as well as the concrete actions to be taken undertaken at local, regional and global levels as to ensure safe, orderly and regulated migration.
On this occasion, Minister Tudor Ulianovschi reported on the short and medium term priorities of the Government of Moldova in the field of migration, especially aimed at strengthening human capital by maximising the positive impact of migration on the socio – economic development of the country, promoting bilateral framework within migration of force work and protection of the rights of Moldovan workers outside the country.
Head of Moldovan diplomacy reiterated the need to raise living standards in developing economies such as Moldova by attracting foreign investments so that the phenomenon of migration is reduced and national Governments prevent the consequences of migration and strengthen family values.
Also, Minister Ulianovschi mentioned the need to capitalise on the potential of the Diaspora by involving it in development projects of Moldova.
The sessions organised in partnership with the Euronews agency also featured the Director – General of the International Organisation for Migration, Antonio Vitorino, together with other important guests, representatives of associative and private sectors.
