Chisinau, 24 January /MOLDPRES/ – The schools and kindergartens in Moldova will not work on 25 January due to bad weather conditions. The decision was adopted at working meeting convened today by Prime Minister, Pavel Filip, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.

According to the info presented today, there are expected mixed precipitations on the evening of today and tomorrow morning, and it will form glazed frost and ice on the roads. "We risk to have blocked roads in the morning, even if the road employees work on the road all night, but if we have precipitations at the same time, it will not succeed. There is no need to put the lives of the children at risk, because where it is glazed frost, the roads are very slippery. And today we have had many accidents recorded for it, so you have to announce all the educational institutions," said Pavel Filip.

Today, because of the heavy snowfall, there were suspended 10 school routes from three districts of Moldova and Gagauzia, and over 500 pupils did not reach school. At present, all the routes in the country are practicable and there are no localities disconnected from the electricity. Until now, there have been involved 213 special vehicles in snow removal work, with over 1,200 tonnes of anti – skid material sprinkled. At the request of PM, the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure (MEI), together with local public authorities, will ensure interaction with electricity and heat suppliers in order to secure the population with electricity and heat. In the event of disconnections, shortcomings are to be quickly solved.

The Premier also urged the officials to continue the road clearing works and sprinkling the anti – skid material on the national routes, local roads and sidewalks, where citizens circulate and provide access to the socially – oriented institutions. "First of all, I want to come up with a request to IGSU, to intervene in case of blocking the access to localities, which is the most important thing for us, the first priority is that people are in safe conditions", said Pavel Filip.

The PM asked the Ministry of Healthcare to provide the necessary medical assistance and 24/24 access to medical services in hospitals. In the event of a crisis, snow – strapping, citizens can call the General Emergency Situations Inspectorate (IGSU) at 022 – 73 – 85 – 45 or Emergency Service 112.
