Moldova becomes example of good practice in defending, promoting copyright

Chisinau, 25 January /MOLDPRES/ – The current level of cooperation of Moldova and the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO), as well as the possibilities for its extension, were discussed in Davos by Foreign Minister and European Integration, Tudor Ulianovschi, with the Director General of the Organisation, Francis Gurry, the MAEIE’s public diplomacy, strategic communication and media interaction service has reported.
Director Francis Gurry has mentioned that in recent years there have been many important joint projects that allowed Moldova to advance in the field of strengthening the national intellectual property system and as a consequence to offer quality services in accordance with the WIPO standards. Thus, Moldova has become an example of good practice in the area of defence and promotion of copyright.
Minister Tudor Ulianovschi highlighted valuable contribution of WIPO to the implementation of the National Intellectual Property Strategy for 2012 – 2020 by promoting assistance in the capacity of the involved national actors. In this context, the head of Moldovan diplomacy specified that the authorities of Moldova rely on the involvement of WIPO in the process, which will start in 2019, to develop a new strategy in the field of intellectual property and related rights.
At the end of the meeting, Minister Tudor Ulianovschi reiterated his invitation to Francis Gurry to pay a working visit to Moldova in November 2019 and participate in the International Specialised Exhibition Infoinvent 2019 in Chisinau.
Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Tudor Ulianovschi, represents Moldova at the World Economic Forum in Davos, which takes place on 22 – 25 January.
