Exhibition of stamps, postcards dedicated to great Romanian poet inaugurated in Moldovan capital

Chisinau, 25 January /MOLDPRES/ - An exhibition of stamps and post cards titled, Eminesciana 2019, dedicated to great Romanian poet Mihai Eminescu, was inaugurated at the Chisinau-based National Ethnography and Natural History Museum today.
Philatelists from Moldova and Romania displayed their works at this exhibition.
The event was organized by the Education, Culture and Research Ministry, Association of Philatelists, Maximaphilists and Collectors of Postcards from Moldova, as well as the host institution.
Contacted by MOLDPRES, the head of the aforementioned association, Constantin Gh. Ciobanu, has said that the exhibition’s goal was to display to the public pieces showing the life and work of poet Mihai Eminescu. “These pieces are known more by the collectors who gather them, study, systematize them; yet, they must be known by all interested people. The exhibits from Romania were awarded prizes at more international exhibitions,” Constantin Gh. Ciobanu noted.
For his part, the director of the National Ethnography and Natural History Museum, Petru Vicol, the event’s moderator, said that the exhibition was staged in the context of the National Culture Day, marked on 15 January. “When we speak about this day, we think, first of all, about the poet of all Romanians, Mihai Eminescu. The exhibition of stamps dedicated to Eminescu has become a tradition. Each year, it is highly appreciated by visitors. These are special exhibits, which we host with pleasure.”
Two books were launched; a monograph titled, ”Istoricul cartofiliei basarabene. Perioada 1896-1917” (The History of the Bessarabian Collection of Postcards. Period 1896-1917) by Aureliu Ciobanu and Constantin Gh. Ciobanu and a register of postcards titled, ”Porni Luceafărul...” (The Evening Star Started Moving..), which reproduces 599 illustrated postcards showing the life and work of Mihai Eminescu.
The exhibition will be opened till 29 January.
