Republican clinical hospital of Moldova gets new equipment donated by organisation from Norway

Chisinau, 29 January /MOLDPRES/ – The ophthalmology department of the Republican Clinical Hospital Timofei Mosneaga was equipped with modern medical equipment for the treatment of ophthalmic diseases caused by diabetes mellitus, advanced myopia and other retinal diseases. The equipment was donated by organisation Hjelp Moldova from Norway.
The Minister of Healthcare, Labour and Social Protection (MSMPS), State Secretary General, Boris Gilca and Hjelp Moldova President, Hans Bjorn Bakketeig, attended the event.
The official of the MSMPS thanked the partners from Norway for support. "Due to the assistance provided by the Norwegian partners, by equipping hospitals in the country with modern ophthalmological equipment, we have significantly improved the services for the prevention and treatment of eye diseases so that patients can benefit from performing treatments at home," said General Secretary of State, Boris Gilca.
Hjelp Moldova President, Hans Bjorn Bakketeig, has said the organisation he represents will further contribute to the development of the medical system in Moldova throughout several projects of that kind.
As a result of the Norwegian support, the technological base of the ophthalmology section was fortified with an Ecoscan – necessary for the preoperative preparation of cataract patients, the diagnosis of pathologies and a previous Polar Laser – for the treatment of secondary cataract, which is a frequent complication of the cataract surgery.
Organisation Hjelp Moldova of Norway has equipped all the ophthalmology departments of state medical institutions in the country with faco equipment for removing cataracts, anterior and posterior pole lasers, as well as modern medical equipment for diagnosis. Also, two years ago, the ophthalmology department of the Republican Clinical Hospital Timofei Mosneaga benefited from a posterior pole laser for the treatment of complications of diabetes mellitus and early glaucoma, as well as a tomograph for the diagnosis and investigation of retinal and optic nerve diseases.
