Moldovan artist varnishes anniversary exhibition on national literature

Chisinau, 29 January /MOLDPRES/ – An exhibition, titled: The national and universal literature in the book graphics signed by the plastic artist Alexei Colabneac, at 75th anniversary of birth, was opened today at the National Library of of Moldova (BNM).

Interviewed by agency, the head of institution, Elena Pintilei, has mentioned that the exhibition includes 51 works of graphics, made by the author over several years. "Ttotally, Alexei Colabneac has illustrated over 200 titles of books by Mihai Eminescu, Ion Creanga, Vasile Alecsandri, Mihail Sadoveanu, Petre Ispirescu, Charles de Coster, Alexandr Puskin, etc. The majority of his books are intended for children and always have something new, unrepeatable," specified Elena Pintilei.

In this context, art critic Victoria Rocaciuc said that Alexei Colabneac is a distinguished plastic artist throughout erudition. "For a graphic designer, reading is part of the professional field, and communicating with such artists gives you a special pleasure. In his works, there is a very strong school. He has collaborated with such artists as Ilia Bogdesco, Gheorghe Vrabie, Isai Carmu and other successful artists", said Victoria Rocaciuc.

According to the plastic artist, Emil Childescu, the university professor Alexei Colabneac is one of the founders of the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Academy of Music, Theatre and Fine Arts (AMTAP). "In 1997 – 2001 he held the post of deputy Minister of Culture. He is a graphic designer which has distinguished works with national and international awards," said Emil Childescu.

Alexei Colabneac was born in 1943 in village Drepcauti, Briceni district. He studied at the Republican College of Fine Arts A. Plamadeala in Chisinau (1957 – 1962) with Professor Aurel David and at the Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture I. Repin in Leningrad (at present Sankt – Petersburg), the Graphics section, with Professor A. Pahomov (1962 – 1971). He has had numerous exhibitions in Moldova and abroad. In 2003 he became a member of the Russian Orthodox Academy of Sciences and Arts. He was awarded Honorary Diploma Hans Christian Andersen of the IBBY International Council for Children and Adolescents (Basel, Switzerland, 2006), etc. His works were purchased by the National Museum of Fine Arts of Moldova, as well as other prestigious museums: P. Tretiakov in Moscow, Nakamura in Japan, Art – Avangard Municipal Gallery in Moinesti, Romania, etc.

The exhibition is open for one month.
