Several educational institutions in agri-food sector to be reorganized

Chisinau, 31 January /MOLDPRES/- Several educational, research and innovation institutions in the agri-food sector will be reorganized. The action is included in the Action Plan for restructuring of research, innovation, education and rural extension system in agriculture, which will be published tomorrow in the Official Journal of Moldova.
Under the document, the government aims to modernize the agricultural sector in Moldova by implementing the results of scientific research and technological innovations, to create jobs and to ensure the competitiveness of Moldovan agricultural products on world markets.
The reorganization plan provides for reorganization of some educational, research and innovation institutions in the agri-food sector, based on the results of the assessment of the logistical and human potential within the system, as well as the re-evaluation of the state order for training specialists in the agri-food sector.
At the same time, activities will be carried out in order to ensure the competitiveness of the agri-food institutions, the satisfaction of the sector with qualified specialists and the access of farmers to the best agricultural practices.
The financial means necessary for the activity of the new entities will be allocated from the state budget, international grants and from sources of the alienation of the unused goods, as well as from the provision of the extension services.
At present, there are 41 agrarian research and education institutions in Moldova.
