Head of reintegration policies bureau meets management of OSCE Mission in Moldova

14:41 | 31.01.2019 Category: Official

Chisinau, 31 January /MOLDPRES/ - Head of the Reintegration Policies Bureau Marian Gherman today had a meeting with Head of the OSCE Mission in Moldova Claus Neukirch, the Bureau has reported.

The dialogue was focused on aspects concerning the process of negotiations on the Transnistrian settlement and on the need to ensure a continuous dynamic of interaction of all current platforms of negotiations, with full implementation of the commitments taken and identifying viable solutions to up-to-date problems faced by the residents from both banks of Dniester.

At the same time, the head of the Reintegration Policies Bureau brought to attention the recent provocations triggered by Tiraspol representatives as to the Varnita village, eastern Anenii Noi district, in the context of the signing, on 25 January 2019, of an alleged decision reading that the concerned settlement is under provisional control of Moldova. Marian Gherman made an appeal to the OSCE Mission to get involved as mediator, in order to persuade the Transnistrian side to revise its attitude, cancel the so-called aforementioned decision and avoid the artificial worsening of the situation in the perimeter of the Security Zone.

In the context, we remind that the problem of the Varnita village is in the focus of Prime Minister Pavel Filip. The PM has recently demanded that the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry (MAEIE) notifies representatives of the mediators and observers in the Transnistrian settlement process to use the potential of the 5+2 format of talks, in order to cease the effects of this provocative action and a meeting on the matter is to be held at the MAEIE headquarters today.
