About 5,000 Moldovan pupils to be informed on how to prevent abuse, sexual exploitation, trafficking of human beings

Chisinau, 31 January /MOLDPRES/ - About 5,000 pupils from ten vocational schools of Moldova will strengthen their abilities for the prevention of risky situations related to the phenomenon of abuse, sexual exploitation and trafficking of human beings.
The activities will be carried out within a project on the development of resilience to sexual and commercial exploitation for teenagers from vocational schools, launched in Chisinau today. The project will be implemented by the National Centre for Prevention of Child Abuse (CNPAC), in partnership with the department of standing secretariats of the State Chancellery, Education, Culture and Research Ministry, with the support of the Embassy of the Netherlands.
The project will be implemented in vocational schools from Chisinau, Balti, Ungheni, Sangerei, Comrat and Ceadar-Lunga till June 2020. The pupils will participate in training workshops and discussions clubs, which will allow them recognize potentially dangerous situations. In particular, teenagers will be informed about the danger of trafficking of human beings, sexual exploitation and labour exploitation. They will be provided with informative materials and access to programmes on assistance and protection.
According to the centre for the combating of the trafficking of human beings, in 2018, 200 criminal files were opened for trafficking of human beings and trafficking of children. Sixty victims of the trafficking of children were identified nationally. According to the national report on the carrying out of the policy on prevention and combating the trafficking of human beings for 2017, most often, children get into a situation of trafficking between the ages of 14 and 17 years. About 60 per cent of the victims of the trafficking of children are girls and most children come from socially and economically vulnerable families.
