Over 320 candidates registered in uninominal constituencies for parliamentary elections

Chisinau, 1 February /MOLDPRES/- A number of 321 candidates were registered in the uninominal constituencies until 31 January, when the period for registration of candidates for MP seat both in the national constituency and in the uninominal ones expired.
According to the Central Electoral Commission, most registered competitors - 264 - represent a political party and only 57 candidates for the post of MP are independent.
Most candidates for the parliamentary seat, 13 each, are in the uninominal constituency No50 to the west of the Republic of Moldova and in the uninominal constituency No51, the USA and Canada. Fewest – 3 – were registered in uninominal constituency No4 in Rascani.
At the same time, CEC rejected the registration of 37 candidates in uninominal consitutencies.
The 24 February parliamentary elections will be held according to a mixed electoral system. Thus, 50 MPs will be elected on party lists and 51 – in uninominal constituencies.
