National Calendar – 2019 issued in Moldova

Chisinau, 04 February /MOLDPRES/ – The National Library of Moldova (BNM) has issued the National Calendar – 2019 (NC) today.

The calendar has 300 pages and contains over 270 articles about personalities of Moldova and abroad as well as general info about national and international events.

Interviewed by agency, general manager of the BNM, Elena Pintilei, mentioned that that is a reference work, indispensable to activities of libraries for programming community activities, effective implementation of the role of an info, educational and cultural centre of the library.

According to the cited source, the National Calendar (NC) was designed as an encyclopaedic yearbook and includes biobibliographical notes about the most important personalities from the fields of science, culture or art of Moldova and abroad. "Within 27 years, it has been accumulated a stunning database, which is similar to the US and UK publications: Who Is Who. The National Calendar – 2019 highlights the personality of 80 – year – old writer Dumitru Matcovschi, 100 – year – old Domnica Darienco, artist Gheorghe Vrabie and literary critic Mihail Dolgan at the age of 80, academician Ion Ababii, at 75 years of age," specified Elena Pintilei.

The issue of 2019 is dedicated to the 130th anniversary of the eminence of Mihai Eminescu, the 160th anniversary of the Union of Romanian Principalities and the 80th anniversary of the founding of the National Art Museum of Moldova.

The National Calendar was made by Valeria Matvei, Natalia – Maria Svet and Maria Ciobanu, editors – Ludmila Sumanschi and Jana Badan, literary editor Eugenia Mincu, cover – Cristina Ceoinac, computerized processing and graphic presentation – Diana Odobescu, editorial counselor – Tatiana Bahmuteanu.
