Chisinau, 7 February /MOLDPRES/- A national system for monitoring and reporting greenhouse gas emissions will be set up in the Republic of Moldova. Regulation on its functioning will be published in the Official Journal of Moldova on 8 February.

Under the document, the national system of monitoring and reporting greenhouse gas emissions will include several central bodies of public administration, central administrative authorities or ministries and some state enterprises.

The document aims at creating the legal and institutional framework for monitoring all greenhouse gas emissions and assessing the progress made in meeting national and international emission commitments.

At the same time, the document sets out the procedure for collecting, processing and reporting of greenhouse gas emissions data to the Secretariat of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change which has been ratified by our country.

The decision enters into force on its publication.
