Many employees of Public Health Centre detained by anti-corruption officers

Chisinau, 7 February /MOLDPRES/- Eleven employees of the Municipal Public Health Center were detained today by officers of the National Anticorruption Center (CNA).

According to CNA data, the 11 are being investigated in a broad investigation, started in May 2018. At this stage, another 14 people are suspected of corruption.

They are suspected of systematically claiming and taking money, personally or through intermediaries, from different private people and legal entities for a range of services, including issuing without impediments of batch endorsements, project and final acceptance, organizing hygienic training hours and successfully passing exams without the direct attendance of people, as well as positively evaluating the results of instrumental measurements and laboratory analyzes without moving on the spot.

It was found that some inspectors made fictitious petitions on some irregularities, then quoted the economic agents at CSP Chişinău headquarters and extorted money not to make physical checks on the spot and not to punish them. The amounts claimed systematically ranged from one thousand to several thousand lei for a service.

CNA officers initiated over 100 criminal cases for active and passive corruption.
