Moldovan parliament appoints new heads of ANRE

Chisinau, 7 February /MOLDPRES/- The parliament today appointed four new directors of the Board of Directors of the National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE). The MPs took note of the resignation of Veaceslav Untilă as President of the Court of Accounts.
Octavian Calmic, Eugen Carpov, Stefan Creangă and Veaceslav Untila will take office from 1 March 2019 for a six-year term.
The four were selected following a public competition to which 11 candidates submitted applications.
ANRE implements state policy on regulating energy sectors, regulates and monitors the efficient operation of the energy market and activities in the energy sectors.
ANRE performs the following basic functions: elaborates and approves regulations, methodologies and other normative acts in the energy sector; supervises the energy sectors and how energy companies comply with regulations in the field; promotes, monitors and ensures fair competition in regulated sectors; issues licenses for the authorized activities on the energy markets; promotes appropriate tariff policy corresponding to market economy principles, so as to ensure the protection of end-user rights and profitability of energy companies; approves rates calculated according to the methodologies approved by it and monitors the correctness of their application, and so on.
