Chisinau, 7 February /MOLDPRES/ - About 100 young people displayed their works at an exhibition and contest of contemporary fine art titled, We – the Creative Youth, inaugurated at the Chisinau-based Constantin Brancusi Exhibition Centre today.

The exhibition comprises works of painting, graphic, tapestry, pottery and sculpture, signed by authors aged between 16 and 35 years.

Contacted by MOLDPRES, the head of the Moldovan Fine Artists Union (UAP), Dumitru Bolboceanu, said that, at its 18th issue, the exhibition’s goal was to promote the creative youth and to see the tendencies of development of the contemporary fine art.

„The works displayed are different in terms of style and genre. The only exhibition and contest brings together more young fine artists, most of whom are students at Moldovan specialized institutions. In a collective exhibition, one can better notice the artistic individuality of each participant, what he brought new to the fine arts from Moldova. Being a contest one, the exhibition stimulates the creative youth both morally and materially, even if the prizes are more symbolical,” Dumitru Bolboceanu noted.

According to the UAP deputy head, Ghenadie Jalba, unlike the previous issue of this exhibition, the number of the participants is lower this year; yet, the exhibition has recorded a qualitative leap. For his part, one of the laureates, fine artist Ruslan Rosca said that he for many years had been participating in this exhibition, as it gives young people a chance to assert themselves.

The works were assessed by a jury led by fine artist Dumitru Sibaev. The Great Prize, worth 3,300 lei, awarded by the youth directorate of the Education, Culture and Research Ministry, was handed to Serghei Josu for a sculpture work.

The exhibition will be opened till 24 February.
