One more person dies of flu in Moldova

Chisinau, 5 March /MOLDPRES/ - A 70-year-old woman from the northern Rascani district died of flu last week; thus, the number of deaths triggered by this virus has reached 29 since the beginning of the cold season.
According to the Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry, on the period 1 October 2018-4 March 2019, 1,945 cases of flu and 217,432 ones of acute respiratory diseases were recorded in Moldova. At the same time, on the same period, 29 cases of death were registered, of which 27 confirmed with the presence of the A(H1N1) influenza virus. All persons who died had not been vaccinated against the seasonal flu.
In the last week, specialists recorded 191 cases of seasonal influenza, of which 27 confirmed in laboratory, 1,765 cases of acute infections of upper respiratory ways and 513 cases of severe acute respiratory infections. The samples collected from the people sick with flu proved the presence of the virus A(H1N1) and A(H3N2).
To avoid the falling sick, epidemiologists recommend that citizens do not resort to self-treatment and appeal to doctor at the appearance of the first symptoms compatible with influenza. Also, it is necessary that ill persons avoid contact with pregnant women, immune-compromised people, persons sick with cardiovascular diseases, chronic diseases of the respiratory apparatus, diabetes and obesity.
