Researcher releases book on sculpture development in Moldova

Chisinau, 05 March /MOLDPRES/ – A volume, titled: Compozitii tematice in sculptura moldoveneasca: anii 1940 – 2010 (The thematic compositions in Moldovan sculpture: 1940 – 2010), signed by the Doctor of Art Studies, Ana Marian, was launched at the National Library of Moldova (BNM) today.
Interviewed by agency, Ana Marian has mentioned that the volume presents an overview of 1940 – 2010, which, including in its 272 pages: folk art, interwar period with the creation of Alexandru Plamadeala, period of socialist realism, decline of this style and end, contemporary period with great creators like the late Tudor Cataraga and other current sculptors: Ion Zderciuc, Ioan Grecu, Mihai Damian, Constantin Constantinov etc.
According to the author, the purpose of the work was to gather more materials, which were periodically in the form of leaflets, catalogues, which allowed the sculptors, ceramists to edit them, and this fragmentary material was gathered in a book, which would provide an overview of the Moldovan sculpture.
Born in 1974 in Chisinau, Ana Marian graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design of the State Pedagogical University (UPS) in Chisinau and then attended doctoral studies at the Academy of Sciences of Moldova. In 2005, she defended her doctoral thesis in the art studies and in 2007 she published the first monograph – The sculpture of Moldova.
