Moldova exports wine worth 2.8 billion lei in 2018

Chisinau, 6 March /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova exported wines worth 2.88 billion lei in 2018, with the sum up by 11 per cent against the years before. The quantity of wine exported grew by seven per cent and reached a figure of 14 million decalitres. The data was unveiled at a national conference of the vine and wine branch today.
Most Moldovan wine, worth 205 million lei, was imported by Romania, followed by China and Poland, with imports amounting to over 160 million lei. The price of one litre of bottled wine dropped by six per cent and is 31.2 lei.
At the conference, the director of the National Office for Vine and Wine (ONVV), Gheorghe Arpentin, said that, in 2018, 680,000 tons of grapes had been harvested on an overall area of 128,000 hectares of vineyard. More than a half of this quantity was used for producing wine. Thus, the wine for consumption represented 19 million decalitres.
In 2018, the investments in the vine and wine sector amounted to 350 million lei. More than 180 wineries are recorded in the vine and wine register of Moldova.
