Chisinau, 7 March /MOLDPRES/- Ladies in Ungheni received local fruits instead of flowers before International Women's Day, marked on 8 March. As a result of a campaign to promote Moldovan agricultural production launched by the JCI Ungheni Junior Chamber International.
Inspired by the appeal of some farmers in the country to men to give up the traditional bouquet of flowers and to give their loved-ones domestic fruit, the members of the JCI Ungheni decided to give the ladies from Ungheni basket with apples and grapes.
“"We, in JCI Ungheni, being a community that tends to make our Moldova more beautiful, invite you to support the campaign together. Thus, we urge you to buy apples and grapes from local producers, which offer us more environmentally friendly, qualitative and tasty fruits and vegetables than imported ones”, the message of young entrepreneurs from Ungheni said.
Junior Chamber International (JCI) was launched on 29 September 2011 and is the first global network of young active citizens with over 200,000 members in 120 countries around the world. JCI was set up 100 years ago in the United States as a movement of young people who have decided to change the local community. Currently, JCI has consultative status with the United Nations and the Council of Europe. There are several local organizations in the Republic of Moldova: JCI Chisinau, JCI Ungheni, JCI Rezina, JCI Orhei and others.
