Transplant Agency of Moldova to make exchange of organs with international medical institutions

Chisinau, 7 March /MOLDPRES/ - The Transplant Agency of Moldova will be able to make exchange of organs internationally, under a cabinet decision due to be published in the Official Journal (Monitorul Oficial) on 8 March. The decision provides for the amendment of the organizational structure of the Agency and assigning of new tasks.  

Thus, if a patient from Moldova will urgently need transplant and the organ cannot be collected in Moldova, then the Agency will be able to appeal to authorized medical institutions from other countries.

The decision also reads that the Agency is to create the National Renal Register, through which the patients taken for treatment through dialysis and those registered in the waiting list for renal transplantation will be monitored more efficiently.    

The document will enter into force on the date of its publication in the Official Journal.

Statistics data shows that there are more than 100 people in need of organs’ transplantation in Moldova.
