Chisinau, 7 March /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova’s delegation repeatedly brought for discussion the issue on the uncontrolled work of the military ”border guards” structures, legally established by Tiraspol, at a meeting of the Joint Control Commission (JCC) on 7 March, the Reintegration Bureau has reported.
The presence of the aforementioned structures in the Security Zone represents an obvious defiance of the provisions of the Moldovan-Russian ceasefire agreement from 21 July 1992, under which the sides committed to withdraw all military formations which are not part of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces.
Tiraspol’s representatives turned down the Moldovan delegation’s proposal to oblige the Transnistrian side to remove the “border guards” posts. As a result, the participants in the meeting decided that a discussion on this issue would follow on the platform of the meetings between the co-heads of the Commission, with the participation of one representative on behalf of the OSCE Mission and Ukraine each.
JCC took note of the weekly report of the Joint Military Command on the situation in the Security Zone for the period 28 February – 6 March 2019.
At the same meeting, the Commission approved two military observers on behalf of Russia to office.
Also, the OSCE Mission in Moldova put up Michael Schieder as its representative in the Joint Control Commission.
The next meeting of JCC will take place in Bender on 14 March 2019.
