Spring plantation campaign starts in Moldova

Chisinau, 10 March /MOLDPRES/ - The Moldsilva forestry agency has started the spring plantation campaign. In this season, the forestry entities subordinated to the institution will carry out more works of planting and regeneration in the national forest fund and areas protected by the state.

"Works of creating forest crops on a total area of 563 hectares, helping the natural regeneration on an overall area of 2,666 hectares, completing regenerations on a total area of 1,017 hectares, works of caring regenerations on an overall area of 7,366 hectares are planned in the campaign from this spring,’’ a Moldsilva press officer, Mariana Bujag, has told MOLDPRES.

Also, according to Bujag, this spring, works will be carried out in nurseries too. Thus, workers plan to sow in nurseries on an overall area of 17.6 hectares, 261,000 trees are scheduled to be pricked out and 2,112 kg of forest seeds are to be harvested.

The biggest areas will be afforested/re-afforested by the enterprises Silva-Sud Cahul (102 hectares), state enterprise Glodeni (69 hectares) and state enterprise Iargara (54 hectares). At the same time, a bigger volume of works of helping the natural regeneration will be carried out in the forest entities Silva-Sud Cahul (249 hectares), state enterprise Tighina (224 hectares) and state enterprise Hancesti-Silva (205 hectares).

To carry out works of planting and completing, the subordinated entities grew about 16 million small trees and 575,000 big trees in forest nurseries.

At the same time, the Moldsilva agency proposes trees for commercialization in an assortment of 30 species.
