Several localities disconnected from electricity due to strong wind

Chisinau, 11 March /MOLDPRES/- A number of 23 localities in eight districts remained partially free of electricity, due to yesterday's wind. Strong gusts have snatched over 100 sheets of slate and about 200 meters of metal tile from several building in the country.
The press officer of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU), Liliana Puscaşu, said that in the last 24 hours, several risk situations were recorded in the country due to strong wind.
"In Zăicana village, Criuleni district, following the strong wind, about 111 slates and 42 square meters of metal tiles have been snatched and damaged from the roof of ten houses. Also, strong wind damaged the roof of a warehouse in Orhei, affecting about 160 meters of metal tile. Emergency commissions are to determine the material damage recorded,” Puscasu said.
The head of the RED Union Fenosa’s external relations and communication department, Vasile Gribincea, said that all localities affected by bad weather were reconnected to electricity in the morning. He added that during the last 24 hours, most interventions took place in the districts of Orhei, Criuleni and Straseni.
The State Hydrometeorological Service extended the Yellow Code of strong wind by Tuesday. According to meteorologists, today, in extended areas, the north-west strong wind is expected, gusting up to 18-23 meters per second. On 12 March, the weather will cool down, especially at night, when the air temperature will be even below 0 degrees.
