Chisinau, 11 March /MOLDPRES/- The 11 children in Tohatin, Chisinau municipality, who arrived last week in hospital with food intoxication, remain hospitalized. Meanwhile, the work of the food delivery company that was feeding the school in Tohatin was suspended and acting mayor of the capital Ruslan Codreanu said that the prosecutor's office would be notified in this case.
The acting head of the General Directorate for Social Assistance and Health, Carolina Olaru, said today that, according to the preventive diagnosis, the children suffered food poisoning. Currently, Public Health Center specialists are conducting the survey to determine the circumstances that led to the spread of disease.
Ruslan Codreanu said that specialists of the National Food Safety Agency found at the company “potato and beet moldy, biscuits with expired shelf-life and fish kept with meat". He said that people who make money on children's health have to be jailed and asked subordinates to send the prosecutor's office all the information about this case.
“Right today I can punish the director of the company by releasing him from office, but I do not know if this is the best solution. I want to see the whole chain and all details on the matter. I want the prosecution to be notified, and investigate the case. Children's intoxication was not from altered biscuits. People deserve to be punished for what has been found in the warehouse and for the technological process within the company. Should anyone be responsible for the altered products delivered to the children,” Codreanu said.
