Chisinau, 11 March /MOLDPRES/- Several underground pedestrian passages in the capital will be rehabilitated this year. For this, 10 million lei will be allocated from the municipal budget.
Acting mayor of Chisinau Ruslan Codreanu said today that in 2019, 4-5 underground pedestrian passages would be restored. Two of them are in Botanica district, and five million lei will be allocated for their repair. A similar amount will be spent for two more passages in the capital, but municipal authorities have not yet decided what they will be.
"Now the cost for the underground at the intersection of Dacia Boulevard and Teilor Street has been made, because there we have most complaints from residents. We'll bring the underground in normal condition. Priority will be given to the access to underground and slopes for people with special needs. All stairs need to be rehabilitated, repaired inside, cleaned, washed and illuminated. That's what I want: to bring underground to normal conditions, accessible to all people, not super-design that costs tens of millions, money that we cannot afford," Codreanu said.
There are 20 underground pedestrian passages in Chisinau.
