Moldovan Party of Socialists invites ACUM bloc's leaders to discussions to form parliamentary majority

Chisinau, 11 March /MOLDPRES/ - The leadership of the Party of Socialists (PSRM) has invited the leaders of the ACUM bloc to preliminary discussions to form a parliamentary majority. The meeting is to be held at the PSRM headquarters on 12 March at 15:00.
At a news briefing, PSRM leader Zinaida Grecianii informed that the decision to invite the members of the ACUM bloc had been taken by the formation’s political executive body today. The body issued a declaration which sets the principles due to stay at the basis of an eventual parliamentary majority.
Among the principles enumerated by the Socialists, there are: guaranteeing the statehood, neutrality of Moldova and the country’s reintegration; a balanced foreign policy through strengthening the strategic partnership with Russia and mutually advantageous cooperation with the European Union, USA and other states; observing the rights of each Moldova’s citizen, no matter the nationality and ethnic affiliation; economic development and creation of new jobs, social equity and protection of the traditional values.
On 9 March, following the validation by the Constitutional Court (CCM) of the 24 February 2019 polls, a representative of the ACUM bloc, Sergiu Litvinenco, reiterated that the formation he is a member of did not intend to negotiate with any of the parties which had entered the new parliament.
The Democratic Party (PDM) has earlier made an invitation to the ACUM bloc to talks, in order to create a new ruling coalition.
According to the results achieved at the parliamentary elections in the national electoral district, PSRM got 18 MP mandates in the future parliament, ACUM bloc – 14 mandates, PDM – 13 mandates and the Shor Party – five mandates.
At the same time, in the uninominal districts, PDM won 17 lawmaker mandates, PSRM – 17 mandates, ACUM bloc – 12 mandates, independent candidates – three mandates and Shor Party – two ones.
