Moldovan parliament speaker submits for promulgation laws approved by government taking responsibility

Chisinau, 11 March /MOLDPRES/ - Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu today signed and submitted for promulgation nine laws approved by the government taking responsibility, including a draft on the providing of 600 lei on Easter and a draft due to allow a 5.3-per cent indexation of pensions as of 1 April 2019, almost twice as much against the old formula, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
The cabinet assumed responsibility on more laws on 7 March this year, after the drafts’ registration in parliament.
It is worth mentioning that, if the laws are promulgated, about 610,000 people will benefit from assistance on behalf of the state, on the occasion of the Easter holidays. At the same time, the draft on the amendment of the formula of pensions’ indexation provides for indexation depending on the average of the increase in prices for the last three years.
Under the Article 106 (paragraph 1) of Moldova’s Constitution, the government can take responsibility before parliament on a programme, general policy declaration or draft law. The cabinet is dismissed, if the motion of censure, submitted in a three-day term upon the draft’s presentation, is passed by the majority of the lawmakers.
