Chisinau, 27 April /MOLDPRES/ – Prime Minister, Pavel Filip, has honoured the Tricolour at a festive ceremony dedicated to the State Flag Day (ZDS), which took place at the State Protection and Guard Service (SPPS). The PM has said that the flag is a symbol of independence, sovereignty and national values of Moldova’s people, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
"Our ancestors showed us that to lift up the Flag you must rise from your knees. We tried to rise to the height and dignity of the tricolour. At least for the recent 03 years, we stood with our heads up: from the UN tribunal we demanded the withdrawal of foreign troops from the country. We have managed for the first time to control the state border (FS), including the central segment, and we have clearly stated that the citizen's interest and national interest is above all," said Pavel Filip.
The Executive's head has said that the Flag is, in fact, dignity, unity and courage. He is constantly watching the development of Moldova and guiding its way to a prosperous future. "Patriotism is to give up your own desires in favour of everything that this flag means. It is a lesson that politicians should certainly learn – as to learn to look in the future, learn to show more unity, dedication and love of the country", specified Pavel Filip.
During the event, a group of officers and non – commissioned officers of SPPS were awarded with Honourable Diplomas of the Government.
The ZDS is marked on 27 April yearly. On this day in 1990, the tricolour was first hoisted to the Parliament building, expressing the will of the citizens who demanded a return to national values.
