Moldova marks State Flag Day

Chisinau, 27 April /MOLDPRES/ - The State Flag Day is marked in Moldova today.
On this occasion, more state institutions carried out activities dedicated to the state flag. Prime Minister Pavel Filip honoured the Tricolour Flag at a festive ceremony held by the State Protection and Guard Service.
At the same time, policemen from all over the country mark the Flag Day through participation in a cycling race held in Moldova’s capital.
The National Army’s servicemen today also honoured the State Flag at a festive ceremony organized at the Defence Ministry. The state’s symbol was also honoured by rescuers and firemen throughout Moldova.
In the context of the State Flag Day, parliament’s visitors were informed about the state symbols, each of them receiving small flags and badges with tricolor ribbons. The parliament’s territorial information offices also held information actions about the state symbols this week.
The State Flag Day was established by the parliament on 23 April 2010. The MPs of the first parliament officially set the Tricolour as state flag on 27 April 1990. The flag was raised on the parliament building on the same day.
The State Flag of the Republic of Moldova is an official symbol of the country’s sovereignty and independence.
