Son of former Moldovan president put on international wanted list

Chisinau, 2 May /MOLDPRES/ - The Romanian Police have put Sergiu Lucinschi, the son of a former president of Moldova, Petru Lucinschi, on international wanted list. The Romanian authorities informed about this decision on 1 May evening.
According to the Romanian Police, Romanian courts have recently sentenced Sergiu Lucinschi to two years and four months of imprisonment. The warrant, issued by the Bucharest-based Court of Appeal, is for serving a sentence for influence peddling.
The Romanian Police also said that “on the period December 2014 – March 2015, the suspect exerted actions of constraint on the civil side H.A., in order to prompt him to give him a sum of 400,000 euros, claiming that he has influence over the judicial bodies involved in the instrumentation of criminal files regarding him.”
The Supreme Court on 4 April definitively sentenced the son of the former president of Moldova, Sergiu Lucinschi, to two years and four months of imprisonment for influence peddling and participation in document forgery and definitively discharged the son-in-law of a former president of Romania, Traian Basescu, in a file in which he was accused of complicity to blackmail and inciting to false testimony.
In the first instance court, Sergiu Lucinschi was sentenced to three years of imprisonment with reprieve.
The younger son of Petru Lucinschi, Kiril, is also prosecuted in Chisinau, in a file of frauds from Banca De Economii (Savings Bank).
