Young man aggressing Moldovan MP runs risk of being sentenced to up to five years of imprisonment

Chisinau, 3 May /MOLDPRES/ - Pavel Grigorciuc runs the risk of being fined or sentenced to up to five years of imprisonment for hooliganism, committed as repeat offence, after he had aggressed a lawmaker of the Democratic Party (PDM), Sergiu Sirbu. The Prosecutor General’s Office (PG) today informed that it had finished the criminal prosecution and sent the file to court.
According to data by PG, on 21 March 2019 afternoon, in the Stefan cel Mare central park, the defendant aggressed MP Sergiu Sirbu; afterwards, he took hold of his cloth and deliberately gave him a blow in the face. The incident took place in the presence of the victim’s colleagues, as well as other persons who were in the public park. Following the incident, the PDM lawmaker was hospitalized with bodily harms.
Pavel Grigorciuc, aged 29, got in the focus of law-enforcement bodies back five years ago. Thus, in the spring of 2015, he was convicted to criminal fine after he had beaten and insulted a German citizen. So far, Grigorciuc has been evading the payment of the fine. The defendant has also a conviction of three years of imprisonment for mass unrest and violence at the headquarters of the Prosecutor General’s Office in September 2015.
Also, starting from 2014 till present, Pavel Grigorciuc has also four contraventions for a string of hooligan actions, provocations and other violent actions, for which he was punished by Moldovan courts with fines.
