Moldova to be part of UNICEF Executive Board on 1 January 2020

Chisinau, 8 May /MOLDPRES/- From 1 January 2020, the Republic of Moldova will be part of the United Nations Children's Fund - UNICEF Executive Board. The decision has been made at a meeting of the United Nations Economic and Social Council.
Participation in meetings of the UNICEF Executive Board will be provided by the Permanent Representation of Moldova to the UN (New York). The Foreign and European Integration Ministry made the statement in this respect.
UNICEF is mandated by the United Nations General Assembly to promote the protection of children's rights, to help meet their basic needs and to increase children's opportunities to make the most of their potential.
Since 1995, UNICEF has been working to ensure respect for the rights of children and women in Moldova. In its work, UNICEF addresses the problems faced by all children in the country in order to improve their health, education, development and protection.
