Moldovan foreign minister has meeting with ambassador of Finland

Chisinau, 08 May /MOLDPRES/ – We are pleading for a deepening of political dialogue and sectoral contacts with Finland and in the context of Helsinki taking over from 01 July 2019 the presidency of the Council of the European Union. The statement has been made today by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Tudor Ulianovschi, during a meeting with the Ambassador of Finland in Moldova, based in Bucharest, Päivi Pohjanheimo, on the occasion of the ending of diplomatic mission, the MAEIE’s public diplomacy, strategic communication and media interaction service has reported.

During the meeting, the two officials highlighted the positive evolution of Moldovan – Finnish bilateral relations and the common desire to develop and strengthen the bilateral relationship by intensifying the political – diplomatic dialogue. Also, the officials specified the importance of intensifying economic exchanges and investments, as well as expanding cooperation in cultural and humanitarian field. "We support the activation of commercial and economic cooperation of Moldova and Finland by organising business missions with the involvement of the National Agency for Trade and Investment Promotion in Finland".

Similarly, in the context of taking over by Finland from 01 July 2019 the Presidency of the Council of the European Union, Minister Tudor Ulianovschi underlined the importance of deepening political dialogue and sectoral contacts. "I am convinced that cooperation between our countries in the field of politics and sectoral contacts will also allow for better interaction in other areas of common interest."

At her turn, Ambassador Päivi Pohjanheimo thanked for productive cooperation with the Moldovan authorities during her mandate in Moldova.
