Chisinau, 9 May /MOLDPRES/ - A concert of classical, light and fanfare music, dedicated to the Europe Day and the Day of commemoration of the World War II victims took place in the Stefan cel Mare public garden from Moldova’s capital.
The event was organized by the Culture Department of the Chisinau City Hall.
Contacted by MOLDPRES, the acting head of the municipal culture department, Stela Mitriuc, has said that this concert became a tradition. “Each year, we mark the two holidays through a varied musical programme, to which we invite stars of the National Opera and light music singers. We want the Chisinau residents to feel a true atmosphere of holiday,” Stela Mitriuc stressed.
The show began with the Anthem of Europe, sung by the Symphony Orchestra of the Maria Biesu National Opera and Ballet Theatre, conducted by People’s Artist Nicolae Dohotaru. A classical music programme came next.
An opera singer, Marian Bulicanu, said that the Europe Day was an event reminding us of the fact that we must be attached to the European values and for this, we need to know and promote them. “I performed on the most important stages from the European countries and I made sure that, if we want to integrate into the European Union, we need to be prepared for this, through work and efforts made every day,” Mariana Bulicanu noted.
For his part, conductor Nicolae Dohotaru stressed that the two holidays were connected between them. “If there were not the sacrifices of the World War II, we would not have marked the Europe Day at present,” Dohotaru said.
The light music orchestra of the Chisinau municipality’s Culture Department performed in the second part of the concert. The brass band of the culture and leisure parks’ department from the Moldovan capital will give a concert in the Stefan cel Mare public garden by this evening.
