Moldovan deputy PM says Chisinau disagrees with possible unilateral actions in Transnistrian settlement process

Chisinau, 11 May /MOLDPRES/ – There should not be allowed any unilateral action to obstruct things made for common citizens in the Transnistrian settlement process. The statement has been made in Chisinau today by the deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration, Cristina Lesnic, after the meeting with OSCE Special Representative for the Transnistrian settlement process, Franco Frattini, who is paying a visit to Moldova.
Cristina Lesnic has added that Chisinau is still advocating for a constructive and constant dialogue as to ensure the continuation of results. According to the official, it has been made some progress so far in terms of situation of schools with teaching in Romanian, claiming of agricultural land and access of farmers to these lands, but also in the process of re – registering the means of transport and apostille of diplomas.
"Only in 2018 we managed to have about 260 Apostille degrees in 23 countries, such as Italy, France, Poland, Bulgaria, USA, etc. We have secured farmers' access to about 90 per cent of the lands they claimed, recorded 3,000 means of transport, and we changed about 3300 driving licences. Only in recent four months of 2019 the number of changed permits is double compared to the number of recorded means of transport," said Cristina Lesnic.
OSCE Representative for the Transnistrian settlement process, Franco Frattini, has said that it is important that the benefits of talks between the parties involved in the Transnistrian settlement process be felt by ordinary people. "I came to Chisinau in a transition period prior to formation of Government, which I hope will be formed before the deadline. I was assured of the political will of the authorities here, and I see that the process is not frozen, there are no blockages, the working groups work, and all these technical meetings continue," said official.
Franco Frattini added that the OSCE responsibility is to encourage and support the negotiation process, but no one can substitute the two sides involved in discussion, who have to dialogue and come up with ideas, proposals and solutions.
OSCE Representative for the Transnistrian settlement process, Franco Frattini, started his two – day visit to Chisinau and Tiraspol on 10 May.
