Moldovan capital inaugurates European Town – 2019

Chisinau, 11 May /MOLDPRES/ – The EU delegation to Moldova, in partnership with public authorities and diplomatic missions accredited in Moldova, have organised today a new issue of European Town in Public Garden Stefan cel Mare si Sfant in Chisinau municipality.
Within European Town, there were installed tents with EU – funded projects where visitors can learn about EU assistance to development of Moldova.
The event was attended by Prime Minister, Pavel Filip, head of EU Delegation to Moldova, Peter Michalko, representatives of public and central administration, diplomatic missions accredited in Moldova.
At his turn, head of EU Delegation, Peter Michalko, has mentioned that the institution he is leading has prepared this year this celebration together so that it can be seen what Europe is, values on which it is based, as well as achieved results and perspectives of cooperation of EU and Moldova.
"It is the year when there are many anniversaries, related to our relationship: ten years of Eastern Partnership, five years since signing of the Association Agreement, five years after liberalisation of visa regime. We want to continue to support European values and cooperation with Moldova. We enjoy any progress achieved by our partners. A lot has been done in terms of economic reforms, implementation of the Free Trade Agreement, increasing Moldovan exports to the European market, creating jobs," said Peter Michalko.
According to official, only 15,000 jobs have been created due to the Free Trade Agreement.
PM Pavel Filip has said that Europe is a model of development, a certain kind of mentality, and a way to be. "Europe is not just a destination, Europe is a road. Of course we want to join EU, it is our final destination. Surely, it will happen. On the day it takes place, we will not stop building roads, repairing kindergartens, buying ambulances. Because closeness to EU is not through statements, banners and vouvousas. It has been proved that it does not work. The approximation of EU is done through daily concrete facts," said Pavel Filip.
There followed a musical recital performed by the Presidential Orchestra, led by Leonid Vozniuc. In the evening, it will take place a symphonic concert in the square of Nativity of Cathedral, presented by the Moldovan National Youth Orchestra and choir La La Play.
On 12 May at 14:00, it will take place opening of the Days of European Film and Culture in Public Garden Stefan cel Mare si Sfant.
On 18 May, the European town will be opened in Cahul, and on 19 May, it will start the Days of European Film and Culture in it.
