Moldovan PM to participate in events of Xth anniversary of Eastern Partnership

Chisinau, 12 May /MOLDPRES/ – Prime Minister, Pavel Filip, will pay a working visit to Brussels on 13 – 14 May 2019, where he will attend events celebrating the Xth anniversary of the Eastern Partnership (EaP), the government's communication and protocol department has reported.

PM will address a speech at the High Level Conference dedicated to the Xth anniversary of the launch of EaP and will attend the festive dinner offered by European Council President, Donald Tusk, to the six Heads of State or Government of the EaP countries framework. The Premier will also hold a series of bilateral meetings with senior European officials, Heads of State and Government.

According to the European Commission's communiqué, the tenth anniversary of the Eastern Partnership will be marked by a series of high – level meetings with the participation of the six EaP countries, EU Member States and other interested parties.

Thus, on 13 May, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini, will chair the yearly Ministerial Meeting of the EaP with the 28 EU Member States, six Eastern Partners of EU and representatives of European institutions. The meeting will assess progress in implementing the "20 deliverables for 2020" agreed at the recent EaP Summit in November 2017.

On the evening of 13 May, European Council President, Donald Tusk, will offer a festive dinner for the six Heads of State or Government of the EaP countries.

Similarly, at BOZAR, the Palace of Fine Arts in Brussels, it will take place the anniversary concert: We create together – celebration of 10 years of EaP through image and music, with the participation of artists from the six countries of EaP.

On 14 May, European Commission President, Jean – Claude Juncker, will host a high – level conference. The event will be attended by Heads of State or Government of partner countries, EU foreign ministers, representatives of civil society, business community leaders, young people and journalists from 34 countries. The participants will be able to discuss how the partnership has evolved in the first decade and on its future.

The Eastern Partnership is an initiative to strengthen and deepen EU cooperation with six eastern neighbours of the European Neighbourhood Policy: Armenia, Azerbaidjan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine. Also, each of the Eastern partners has the freedom to determine their degree of cooperation with EU. Thus, Moldova, Georgia and Ukraine chose the maximum degree of rapprochement by signing the Association Agreements and implementing all the conditions for liberalisation of visa regime.
