Chisinau, 13 May /MOLDPRES/- About a thousand free dogs in the capital will be sterilized. The interventions will be carried out by 15 doctors from the World Veterinarians Organisation (World Vets) who will arrive in Chisinau this weekend.
Doctors will be in our country by 25 May. The interventions will be made free of charge at the municipal center for sterilization of canine population and the animals will be released later. Besides sterilization, foreign experts will also have training sessions for veterinarians in our country.
"We do not go on inhuman treatment. The sterilization campaign states that in three to four years the problem will be resolved. We call on all citizens to take notice and help us. It is a possibility to help each other so as to have as many sterilized dogs as possible, " acting mayor of Chisinau Ruslan Codreanu said today.
He noted that the authorities are willing to provide free transport for dogs to the sterilization centre.
A similar sterilization action took place in the capital in March this year when 140 dogs were subjected to interventions. Chisinau authorities plan to make two more sterilization missions during the summer.
