50 students received merit scholarships worth 12,000 lei

Chisinau, 15 May /MOLDPRES/- A number of 50 students in the country have received merit scholarships worth 12,000 lei each. The ceremony for the scholarship was held yesterday evening in Chisinau.
This year’s competition was attended by 221 students from 18 universities. The program offers 35 scholarships for students of final year of study, the Bachelor and 15 scholarships for Master students of the first year of study. The finalists were selected by an Independent Expert Committee based on the evaluation of the submitted files.
"You are the best, who demonstrate through daily work, through tenacity and competitive spirit that success can be achieved here at home in Moldova. I wish you to continue to be as determined, full of energy and enthusiasm and to contribute to creating a beautiful future for our country, " state secretary of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research Elena Belei said.
The Merit Scholarship program aims to support the best students in the Republic of Moldova and to promote their interest in studies, research and extracurricular activities. Within the 23 annual editions organized so far, 5,700 students participated in the contest, of whom 1,500 received merit scholarships.
According to the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research, young people up to 30 years who are students in the last year of study can take part in the competition, first-year master’s students and students attending programs of integrated studies of final year of study from all specialties, who study at one of the institutions of higher education in Moldova.
