Chisinau, 16 May /MOLDPRES/- PECO stations in Moldova today displayed new prices for petrol up by about 1 MDL than the previous ones, and diesel was more expensive by 0.8 MDL per liter. The pump price for the most demanded Premium-95 petrol is 19.37 MDL and for diesel 17.45 MDL.
Petrol and diesel prices are calculated by operators, not by the National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE), according to the methodology on oil prices, previously approved by ANRE.
Under the methodology, the prices are set by operators, given the costs and annual rates of return on oil products traded per enterprise of up to 10 percent. This is provided in the amendments approved by parliament to the Law on oil market, which entered into force on 1 January 2019.
Several companies reduced the retail fuel prices by 0.9-3.2 percent on 13 March only two days after ANRE approved the new methodology for price formation. The pump price for the most demanded A-95 petrol was reduced on average to 18.47 lei per liter, by 0.42 lei less than the previous one. The diesel price had been set at an average of 16.62 lei per liter.
